Classification

Phosphoric acid or orthophosphoric acid, with the chemical formula H3PO4 and molecular weight of 97.994, is a common inorganic acid and a medium-strong acid. It is obtained by dissolving phosphorus pentoxide in hot water. Orthophosphoric acid is obtained by treating apatite with sulfuric acid in industry. Phosphoric acid is easily deliquesced in air. Heating will lose water to get pyrophosphoric acid, and then further loss of water to get metaphosphoric acid. Phosphoric acid is mainly used in the pharmaceutical, food, and fertilizer industries, including as a rust inhibitor, food additive, dental and orthopedic, EDIC corrosive, electrolyte, flux, dispersant, industrial corrosive, raw material for fertilizers, and component household cleaning products. Also used as a chemical reagent, phosphates are nutrition for all life forms.

Areas of application

Agriculture: Phosphoric acid is a raw material for the production of important phosphorus fertilizers (calcium superphosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, etc.) and for the production of feed nutrients (calcium dihydrogen phosphate).

Industry: Phosphoric acid is an important chemical raw material, the main role is as follows:

Treating metal surfaces, generating insoluble phosphate films on metal surfaces to protect them from corrosion.

Mixed with nitric acid as a chemical polishing agent, used to improve the surface finish of the metal.

Phosphate as raw material for the production of detergents and insecticides.

Raw material for the production of flame retardants containing phosphorus.

Food: Phosphoric acid is one of the food additives, in food as acidulants, yeast nutrients, cola contains phosphoric acid. Phosphate is also an important food additive, can be used as a nutritional enhancer.

Medicine: Phosphoric acid can be used in the production of phosphorus-containing drugs, such as sodium glycerophosphate
