Classification
Hydrochloric acid, an aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride (HCl) , belongs to the one element inorganic strong acid, industrial uses. Hydrochloric acid is a colorless transparent liquid with a strong pungent odor and high corrosiveness. Concentrated hydrochloric acid (mass fraction of about 37%) has a strong volatility, so when the container containing concentrated hydrochloric acid is opened, the hydrogen chloride gas will volatilize and combine with the water vapor in the air to produce small droplets of hydrochloric acid, so that an acid mist appears above the mouth of the bottle. Hydrochloric acid is the main component of stomach acid, which promotes digestion of food and protects against microbial infections.
Save
Keep sealed in a cool, ventilated place.
Use
During the fabrication of integrated circuits, metal impurities on the surface of the substrate may diffuse into the substrate, resulting in degradation of device performance and reduced yield. Therefore it is extremely important to ensure that the surface of the substrate is free of metal impurities before depositing the metal. Because hydrochloric acid reacts with most metals to form water-soluble salts that are then removed by water washing, cleaning with high-purity hydrochloric acid can effectively reduce metal impurities.
Emergency Treatment
INHALATION: Remove quickly from scene to fresh air. Keep airway open. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, administer artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention. Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water and give milk or egg white. Seek medical attention. Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing immediately and rinse with plenty of running water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention. EYE CONTACT: Immediately lift eyelids and rinse thoroughly with plenty of running water or saline for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Fire Extinguishing
Extinguishing Methods: Flammability: Non-combustible Extinguishing Agent: Water. Fire extinguishing precautions: firefighters must wear oxygen breathing apparatus and full body protective clothing. Neutralize with alkaline substances such as sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, slaked lime.
